Episode IV.1 – Introducing the agenda

We started the session in Iceland by visiting Verkmenntaskólinn á Akureyri (VMA). VMA is the major VET college in Northern and North Eastern Iceland. The school has around 1000 but in addition quite a few students participate in distance education. What characterizes the college is it´s focus on a variety of studies for all types of students. It offers studies in industrial and technical fields as well as academic fields. The goal is to serve the needs of companies and general training for jobs and further education. VMA also provides special education for students who need special programs because of handicaps or difficulties in learning.  https://www.vma.is/ 

The visit in VMA started with an introduction of the agenda which is questioning the territorial training system, the cooperation and the innovation related to the territory needs. The introduction was then followed by a tour around the school.
